While traveling through Death Valley National Park, you may be astounded with how large and remote the park is! With miles between available services and limited cell phone coverage, good planning is key.

Here are a few recommendations on how to prepare for a safe trip in the park.

🚗 Plan ahead! Know your route in and out before you get here. Loading navigation apps can be difficult with limited cell coverage here.
🚗 Gas stations are far and few; topping off when gas is available is advisable especially if you are at a half tank or less!
🚗 Tell a friend or family member where you are going and when they should expect to hear from you; they can call for help if you are out of cell service and miss a check-in with them.
🚗 If traveling on dirt roads, make sure you have good tires as well as a spare and a patch kit.
🚗 If you do encounter vehicle trouble, put your hood up and stay by your car. Do not attempt to walk for help. Your car offers some protection from the elements, and will make it easier to be seen by people who could help.
🚗 Keep a cooler filled with ice, water, and food. Bring 1 gallon of water per person per day of your visit (and be sure to drink it too!).

If you have other good safety tips, we would love to hear them in the comments below!

Y’all have probably figured it out by now, due to the continuing Covid19 situation, current county health department guidelines in our frontier and the Governor’s restrictions on festivals, crowds and all the fun stuff, we regret to announce that the 19th annual OLD WEST DAYS has officially been cancelled.

We look forward to commemorating 125 of Randsburg in 2021 with an even bigger & better celebration out here in our small part of the Wild West!!!

Thank y’all for your past, continuing & future support of historic Randsburg!! Just because we’re fix’in to put off the celebration ... doesn’t mean ya can’t come out and say hi, that weekend or any other, we’re all still here!!!

We love it when National Parks are a source of creative inspiration! The paintings, poems, reflections, sketches, musings, and more are yet another reason why we are honored to protect and preserve these special places.

    Posts artist @minttinadventures:
"Finally made it to Death Valley for the first time! I found a little perch overlooking Artist’s Palette and had THE BEST time. I’ve never seen such colorful rocks. I truly used every paint color in my tin for this one. 🎨"

We would love to hear how your national park adventures have inspired your creative side!
