Bloom Reports from the Anza-Borrego Desert: 2019-2020

We are now approaching full bloom on the desert floor, but this is most definitely NOT a superbloom year. The bloom is that of a typical "good" year, defined as a year where there was enough rainfall to germinate annuals in most places.

Here are some of our current road conditions:
Upper Wildrose Road: CAUTION: 4x4 and high clearance recommended for the last two miles to the Charcoal Kilns due to snow; CLOSED above the Charcoal Kilns for winter.
Titus Canyon Road: CAUTION: 4x4 and high clearance recommended due to ice.
West Side Road: CAUTION: 4x4 recommended due to mud, especially at the Amargosa River near the south end of the road.
Racetrack Road: Washboard is worse than usual. Racetrack Playa may be wet and muddy from recent storms. (Do not walk on playa when wet).
Saline Valley North Pass: CAUTION: 4x4 and high clearance required due to 1-2 feet of packed snow, ice, and mud.
Saline Valley South Pass: CAUTION: 4x4 and high clearance required due to 1-2 feet of packed snow, ice, and mud.
Hunter Mountain: CAUTION: 4x4 and high clearance required due to 1-2 feet of snow, ice, and mud. Road may be impassable.
